Sleeping butt syndrome.
Sounds silly, but more and more working professionals are complaining of this problem. And why wouldn’t they sitting all day is SO BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH.
Could this be you?! Read below to see…
Signs your butt has gone to sleep:
- Knee and back pain
- Can’t stand on one foot with your eyes closed
- Butt appears to be a bit more, shall we say, droopy
So, I have sleeping butt syndrome, what to do now…
There is an easy fix:
- Practice standing on one leg!
- Start with eyes open. Remember to stand as tall as you can and squeeze your glutes.
- When you can stand for 60 sec on each foot try closing your eyes.
**My Tip**
When you first start closing your eyes, try resting your hand on a counter top or desk, in case you do loose your balance, you won’t injury yourself.
** And remember: Just like when you begin working any new muscle group, modification may be necessary to prevent injury. There is no shame in starting at the beginning. You have to build strong bodies.**
Here at JōbuFIT, we are constantly telling you to taking standing breaks this would be a good time to work out that sleeping butt. Still don’t know what we mean when talking about standing breaks? Try these: make phone calls standing, instead of calling that coworker, walk over to a coworker’s desk to ask a question, or take a lap around the office floor before heading to the bathroom.
So the next time you hear that nagging JōbuFIT voice in the back of your head, do a JōbuFIT workout AND use that standing break to rid your body of sleeping butt syndrome!
** As always: check with your health care professional before starting a new workout. **
